MedEcon: The Medical Money Pit

Krugman's latest. Apparently the beginning of a series on how we spend our medical cash.

Not hardly. He doesn't even blame doctor's salaries on any sort of problem, he simply mentions it as an aspect of high health cost in the US.

And it's perfectly fair to say that US docs are paid more than in other countries, because, ya know, it's true. That's not to say they should or shouldn't be. It's a number, not a judgment.

i still don't seen any judgment there. the next statements are:

"Another answer is that America's health care system drives a poor bargain with the pharmaceutical industry."

That's also a true statement. But is it a main reason? No, he concludes:

"Above all, a large part of America's health care spending goes into paperwork."

Another answer. Not "another main answer."

You can call Paul Krugman whatever you want, but that won't change the fact that he pretty much knows exactly what he's talking about most of the time.

dude, i KNOW BETTER than to go to your site and trash the dodgers. you'd murder me.

the lakers however...

i actually sorta like the dodgers, just cuz the reds and dodgers were always competing in the old nl west before the 94 realignment, and they were sorta the arch nemesis there for a few years in the mid 80s. and that's back before med school sucked the air out of my lungs, so anything that reminds me of the mid 80s (even Iran contra) sorta makes me dreamily happy.
