Politics: Economy should be paramount for Ohio voters.

It is no secret that my state of birth has a weakening economy. What remains a mystery, however, is how much longer the state can endure a rising unemployment trend. Let me state for the record that I am not opposed to outsourcing since, in the long run, it is a win/win situation for the parties involved. Yet, Ohio has been shocked by job loss under the current administration. Can the state really expect any change by granting four more years?

As this article points out, Ohio's demographics closely mimic those of the nation as a whole, and the state has chosen the White House winner in 13 of the last 14 elections. Although the article is over a week old, it is very informative. Be sure to check out the interactive Fact File while you're there.

The question is whether or not Ohio voters will put social issues on the back burner and try to resurrect some Clinton-esque economic prosperity (no, I am not saying that Clinton was the sole cause for economic prosperity in the 90's--that, by nature, is overdetermined). For now, we can only hope so.
