Medicine: the sane are few among us

The Food and Drug Administration's assistant commissioner for women's health and director of the agency's office of women's health, Susan Wood, has resigned in the wake of the FDA's decision last Friday to again delay a decision on whether to allow over-the-counter sales of the contraceptive drug Plan B.
And the quote of the article:
"I can no longer serve as staff when scientific and clinical evidence, fully evaluated and recommended for approval by the professional staff here, has been overruled."

On some level I'm happy that someone within the FDA finally pointed out the bullshit that is going on. On another level, I don't think her resignation will affect the outcome of this dispute very much. Now the question becomes how the administration spins this. We'll probably find out she was an alcoholic lesbain who quit the FDA to start her own back ally abortion clinic (in anticipation of another Bush appointee to the Supreme Court).

Do you really think they'll spend all those words to label her when "terrorist" is so much catchier?
