History: Was Abe Lincoln gay?

The first Republican president? Couldn't be!

If the loving heart of the Great Emancipator found its natural amorous passions overwhelmingly directed toward those of his own sex, it would certainly be a stunning rebuke to the Republican Party’s scapegoating of same-sex love for electoral purposes. And a forthcoming book by the late Dr. C.A. Tripp — The Intimate World of Abraham Lincoln, to be published in the new year by Free Press — makes a powerful case that Lincoln was a lover of men.
Great article.

What a well-written, thoughtful article... thanks for finding this one!
Why isn't it obvious to people that nothing is being damaged or stolen or taken away with same-sex marriage? There is nothing to "defend" because nothing is under attack. The only truths are that gays exist, they are NORMAL people and they deserve to have the same legal protections and respect that all other NORMAL people get when they are in a loving, committed relationship. Seems like old Abe would have agreed!

Abraham Lincoln would not be in the Repuplican Party today. He would have been a better budy with Howard Dean. The south finally won the civil war. The republican party today is essentially the southern elitist/religious party.

It is also argued that Lincoln had Marfan (sp?) Syndrom, bt really sure how this is pertinant but...the Red Sox won the World Series!!
