Courtney and I turned off our DVR-ed Jeopardy episode last night, only to see this ridiculously painful crash on the X-games. 720 into a 540 turns into a 720 into SPLAT! I thought the dude was dead, since I don't think I could personally survive a fall down a flight of stair, but you can't kill people stupid enough to ride skateboards 50 feet into the air. So it's worth the watch, if only to hear the stoner announcer's reaction: "Ah, man, that was... that was the heaviest slam we've ever seen... Oh, my God. Wow, I can't believe he nailed that 720."

Apparently his board went squirrelly. I hate it when that happens. And then they let him walk off the ramp. Impressive to the crowd, incredibly stupid to the ER docs.

And the next day they report he's "just" in the trauma ICU for a "contused liver," but JUST for observation *wink*

Did you like their claim they had the "best medical staff in the business"? In the X-games business? Wouldn't that be the ONLY medical staff in the business?

Strange they were checking his c-spine AFTER he walked off...

sadly this guy is probably smarter than most of my patients last month, although i think my patients were maybe slightly smarter than the dumbshit audience applauding a moron risking permanent paralysis after a fall like that.

Of course they waited to do all that doctory stuff. There was important jumping and spinning to be done. Did you like seeing the other skaters come up to check on him? I was imagining them coming up and saying, "Anything I can do? I could do some tricks if you think it would help..."

I was in Ramsey's in Lexington when this happened and I just happened to look over my friend's shoulder to see it happen. I had been commenting all lunch how it seemed like a terrible idea. When he saw my face I think he assumed that something had been bombed.

The video is mindblowing.

People in the diner were cheering when he got up but I was cringing.
